How to Put Air in Tires Without a Gauge
If you need to put air in your tires but don't have a tire pressure gauge, you can still do so by following these steps:
- Check your car's manual or the inside of the driver's side door panel to find the recommended tire pressure for your vehicle.
- Locate the air pump at a gas station or use a portable air compressor if you have one.
- Remove the valve cap from the tire's valve stem. Make sure to keep the valve cap somewhere safe so you don't lose it.
- Press the air pump nozzle onto the valve stem and hold it securely in place.
- Start adding air to the tire by either pushing the lever on the air pump or turning on the portable air compressor.
- While adding air, periodically check the tire by pressing on it with your hand to feel if it's getting firmer.
- Continue adding air until the tire feels sufficiently inflated, then remove the air pump nozzle from the valve stem.
- Put the valve cap back on the valve stem and repeat the process for the other tires on your vehicle.
Although using a tire pressure gauge is the most accurate way to ensure your tires are properly inflated, these steps can help you add air to your tires in a pinch without a gauge.
