Why do dogs walk in circles before they die?
There are several theories as to why dogs may exhibit this behavior before they die:
- Comfort: Walking in circles may help dogs find a comfortable position to lie down in.
- Instinct: Dogs have a natural instinct to circle their sleeping area before lying down. This behavior may be a carryover from this instinct, even when they are close to death.
- Anxiety: Some dogs may walk in circles out of anxiety or stress related to their declining health or surroundings.
- Disorientation: Dogs nearing the end of their life may experience disorientation or confusion, leading them to walk in circles.
- Physical discomfort: Dogs may walk in circles if they are experiencing physical discomfort or pain, as a way to cope or try to alleviate it.
